Fly Fishing in Hobart

RiverFly Tasmania offers fly fishing based from Hobart, where we target some of Tasmania’s larger rivers, and most exciting and challenging sight fishing.

Early season guiding follows the run of migratory sea-run brown trout up the river Derwent, right from the city centre, and upstream into key tributaries.

The Derwent itself offers one of the best raft-fishing destinations in Australia, of which the RiverFly team are keenly developing. The other major feature fishery of the area occurs in the rivers beyond Maydena; wilderness and semi-wilderness rivers such as the Styx, Weld, Florentine and Tyenna, where Tasmania’s biggest and most challenging river trout thrive among river valleys containing the largest trees in the world.

Our guided fishing around Hobart is best suited to reasonably fit and experienced anglers, looking for a very memorable sight-fishing experience. A minimum two to three days of fishing is recommended.
