I’m a big fan of chest packs, having used one for the past 15 years or so. Unfortunately my old favourite Patagonia chest pack has worn out (multiple failed zips), so it’s time for a new one. I’d been struggling to find one that i liked though: most are too large, and have way too much hanging and dangling off of them, ready to get in the way. Recently a customer showed me his new one (thanks Nathan!), a chest pack by American company Marsupial Gear . Made in the USA, this chest pack has it all, including a minimalist designed, cross-straps for comfort, and smart hidden features such as magnets near most of the gear loops so that things like nippers and forceps stay put. So i bought one! There’s room for a dry fly box and slimline nymph box, four spools of tippet, and space for nippers, forceps and all the floatants.
All of the Marsupial Gear is modular, meaning that you can add a pack, bino pouch and many more options to your gear if you are keen to.
It’s two thumbs up from me, highly recommended.
